California Lutheran University, James M Hage Stave Pavilion, Timber Frame, Outdoor Classroom
Budget: $1.6 million
Location: Cal Lutheran University Campus, Thousand Oaks, CA
Drawing inspiration from Norway's historic Borgund Stave Church, this distinctive pavilion was custom-designed for California Lutheran University's campus in Thousand Oaks, California. The structure will honor the Norwegian American ranching families in Thousand Oaks, CA, whose land donations helped establish the University in the 1970s. The project demonstrates how architectural heritage can inform contemporary design, transforming historical elements into a structure that is both visually striking and purposefully functional.
