SMALL PROJECTS
REPAIRS & MAINTENANCE

..why work with us?

Jared was born and raised in Washington State, where he has been drawing, designing, building, and working with his hands for over 20 years. He earned his undergraduate degree in Finance & Economics from Washington State University.

His carpentry career began in a quaint Idaho resort town, designing and building custom outbuildings. Seeking to refine his craft beyond rough framing, he apprenticed under master craftsmen at a custom cabinetry and furniture workshop, learning the essential distinction between a laborer and a true carpenter.

Driven to master traditional building methods, Jared pursued intensive study under master timber framers. He immersed himself in the ancient craft of mortise and tenon joinery, mastering complex layouts, hand-cut joinery, and traditional frame raising techniques. This rigorous study connected him to centuries of building tradition and reinforced that carpenters, like blacksmiths and masons, are highly skilled artisans—a rarity on today's building sites.

With expertise in both fine woodworking and traditional timber framing, Jared established a company built upon his core beliefs and dedication to authentic craftsmanship.

Master Level Execution

As the owner and master craftsman, I personally execute every aspect of your project - a key distinction from larger operations. During my apprenticeship with bigger firms, I observed that master carpenters often solely manage projects while delegating the hands-on work to less experienced apprentices.

This direct, master-level execution is a cornerstone of our value proposition and a key advantage of working with our boutique service.

Overall Quality

The common practice of delegation to apprentices can lead to quality inconsistencies. By working directly on your project, I ensure a high level of mastery is applied throughout. My hands-on involvement means you receive the benefit of years of experience in every detail, rather than the learning curve of apprentices.

Your Vision

A direct line of communication with the craftsman working on your project from start to finish ensures that your vision is fully realized. With this approach, you have greater control, and your ideas are translated without the distortion that can occur when messages are relayed through multiple layers of communication. This reduces the risk of miscommunication and can make it easier to express ideas, ask questions, and get updates.

Exceptional Value

What sets us apart is my direct involvement in every project. Unlike larger operations where work is delegated to apprentices, I personally handle the craftsmanship with tools in hand. This ensures: Direct quality control at every stage, Expert execution of complex tasks, Immediate problem-solving when challenges arise, and Consistent, master-level workmanship throughout.

Pride in Work: Smaller companies rely on word-of-mouth and local reputation, so we tend to be highly motivated to deliver exceptional work at competitive prices. Our success depends on customer satisfaction and the quality of our work, leading to a greater sense of pride in each job. Even if we price our work the same as a larger and longer established operation, you recieve superior quality work and attention to detail. By definition, this is better value. More bang for your buck.

Enhanced Flexibility

Easier Adjustments: as a small businesses JEOHWOOD is agile, which allows us to adapt to changes or unexpected circumstances with less bureaucracy. Whether you want to adjust materials or modify aspects of the design, small companies are generally more accommodating of on-the-fly adjustments than large organizations.

Less Rigid Scheduling: Larger companies may follow strict project schedules with limited flexibility, especially if managing multiple jobs simultaneously. JEOHWOOD often has more leeway to adjust schedules based on your needs, which can be particularly useful if you want to oversee certain decisions closely.

Local Knowledge and Network

Knowledge of Local Regulations: we work primarily within the Pacific Northwest and are well-versed in local building codes, zoning laws, and permitting processes. This helps prevent potential delays and issues with compliance.

Trusted Subcontractor Relationships: JEOHWOOD works with a core network of trusted subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring quality and consistency in materials and craftsmanship. We collaborate with familiar, reliable teams for plumbing, electrical, and specialized tasks, which leads to a smoother process and better results.

Support for Local Business and Community

Economic Impact: Supporting a small, local business keeps funds circulating within the community, which benefits local economies and helps maintain local trade skills.

Commitment to Local Standards: As a small businesses JEOHWOOD maintains a commitment to quality and character, as our work directly impacts our reputation and standing within our community.
